A 15A taper potentiometer is a potentiometer with a special logarithmic resistance curve called a "15A taper". Potentiometers (or rotary resistors) can have different resistance curves, meaning that the resistance behaves differently when the knob is turned.
Log Type A = 15% of the total resistance at half the potentiometer setting.
